Job summary

Thales Group in Singapore seeks a System Support Engineer to deliver radar ICIT, warranty and maintenance commitments for Defence projects. You will support ICIT activities on radar systems onboard vessels and may assist in IVVQ of systems in the factory.

Occasional overseas support for sonars and communications systems may be required. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Defence Hub, you will collaborate with technical support, engineering and product management teams to enhance system reliability

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical & Electronic or Computer Engineering.
  • 5–8 years’ engineering experience in Communication/Surveillance/Sensors projects.
  • Experience on radar systems onboard vessels preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of NS100 radars is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Wireshark, networks, and cybersecurity.
  • Willingness to travel overseas occasionally; Singapore citizenship mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve technical issues reported by users, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Assist Project Manager and overseas teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Perform installation, checkout, integration and testing of radar systems onboard vessels.
  • Participate in system interface and integration tests.
  • Coordinate with shipyard for mechanical installation and cabling works.
  • Set up radar system, align, calibrate and conduct acceptance tests.
  • Conduct harbour and sea performance tests and generate reports.
  • Support end-users to resolve maintenance issues during warranty.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for integrated logistics support activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve reliability.

System Support Engineer

Location: Singapore, Singapore

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Defence Hub, the System Support Engineer is responsible for delivering radar systems Installation, Checkout, Integration and Testing (ICIT), warranty and maintenance commitments for various Defence projects. He/She will support the ICIT activities of Thales’ radar systems onboard the military platform during project phase. He/She could also be involved in the Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) of the Systems in the factory. Leverage on his/her radar expertise, the incumbent will also support end-users and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and execute continuous improvement required on the systems. He/She may also be assigned at times, to provide technical assistance in sonar and communication systems during project and maintenance phase.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve technical issues reported by users, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Assist the Project Manager and work with overseas Business Line (BL) to resolve technical issues
  • Perform installation, checkout, integration and testing of radar systems onboard vessels
  • Participate in System interface and integration tests
  • Work with platform contractor in shipyard for mechanical installation and cabling works
  • Set up radar system, align, calibrate and perform checks to prepare for acceptance tests
  • Conduct acceptance tests in harbour and performance tests at sea
  • Evaluate system performance and generate test reports
  • Support end-users to resolve technical and maintenance issues during System warranty
  • Manage and coordinate with stakeholders for other Integrated Logistics Support activities
  • Interface with other Technical Support, Engineering and Product Management teams to amplify and resolve issues
  • Monitor system performance and make continuous improvement
  • Determine and implement specific technical needs to improve reliability and maintainability
  • Track and report project/service status
  • Establish close collaboration with stakeholders and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Support bids activities when required
Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical & Electronic or Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ engineering experience working in Communication/Surveillance/ Sensors projects
  • Relevant experience working on radar systems onboard vessels will be preferred
  • Prior knowledge of NS100 radars will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge on Linux system, Wireshark tool, network and cybersecurity
  • Experience in performing system maintenance and handling of SLA
  • Solid trouble‑shooting skills and problem‑solving experience
  • Able to work both independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment
  • Require occasionally to work outside office hours to complete tasks in critical situations
  • Familiar with defence business and comfortable working on different military platforms
  • Readiness to travel overseas occasionally for trainings and meetings
  • Due to project nature (Defense), Singapore citizenship is mandatory
