What the role is:
MPA’s Maritime Decarbonisation Division formulates Singapore’s maritime decarbonisation strategy and drives MPA’s sustainability initiatives. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking candidate to lead the adoption of emerging and alternative maritime fuels, drive Maritime Singapore’s energy and infrastructure transition, and shape international partnerships to safeguard Singapore’s interests in the global maritime sector.
You will be part of a strategic, dynamic team to formulate maritime decarbonisation strategies and collaborate with stakeholders including research institutes, government agencies, and industry to develop technical studies and projects supporting Maritime Singapore’s decarbonisation goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage with local and international stakeholders, including industry players, research institutes, technology providers, and regulatory bodies, on developments related to electrification, alternative fuels, emerging technologies, and other decarbonisation pathways.
- Develop decarbonisation pathways and master planning of infrastructure to enable the energy transition of Maritime Singapore. Lead technical and economic feasibility studies with partner agencies and research institutes to assess emerging decarbonisation options and inform MPA’s strategies and policies.
- Collaborate with MPA divisions, government, industry, and academia to address barriers to adopting decarbonisation solutions, including infrastructure planning, electrification adoption, funding mechanisms, incentives, regulations, and policies.
- Partner with MPA divisions to implement sustainability strategies and initiatives aligned with Maritime Singapore’s Decarbonisation Blueprint 2050.
- Administer schemes to enhance Maritime Singapore’s capabilities in decarbonisation and energy efficiency, including evaluating applications, developing processes, and ensuring compliance with governance requirements.
- Manage scheme budgets, KPIs, develop audit plans, conduct on-site audits, and participate in digital transformation efforts related to scheme management.
Key Qualifications:
- Background in Sciences, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering preferred; relevant sustainability modules considered.
- Experience in assessing energy efficiency and decarbonisation technologies, grant management, and administration is advantageous.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills and experience managing technical studies and projects in collaboration with research institutes and government agencies.
- Strong team player with analytical, project management, interpersonal, and communication skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams.
