The job-holder is responsible to provide personalised, specialised and cost-effective care to the patients in accordance to established.


Duties and Responsibilities


Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

  1. Assesses patients’ needs on admission and daily throughout their hospital stay
  2. Plans and implements care according to the assessed need
  3. Evaluates and monitors patients’ progress according to planned care
  4. Documents care given and monitors outcomes on the established charts and forms
  5. Carries out treatments and investigations as prescribed by physicians
  6. Communicates and discusses patients’ progress and response to treatment with physicians, nursing and allied health colleagues involved in the patient care
  7. Follows-up to ensure continuity of patient care and treatment plans
  8. Delivers safe and competent nursing care
  9. Participates actively in physicians’ rounds
  10. Prepares and assists physicians with procedures done on patients
  11. Collaborates and co-operates with physicians and other health-care providers in the smooth delivery of patient care and services
  12. Demonstrates clinical skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the delivery of patient care
  13. Displays compassion, a positive and caring attitude towards patients as well as to internal and external clients
  14. Provides patient/family information and education on disease prevention, health education and rehabilitation techniques
  15. Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment
  16. Demonstrates proper and economical usage of consumables and supplies
  17. Maintains a clean and safe working environment
  18. Supervises and guides new/junior staff in their work as well as nursing students on posting
  19. Assumes the role as Staff Nurse in-charge
  20. Demonstrates competency in all core competencies and unit specific programs implemented by Nursing Administration

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

  1. Participates in clinical and service quality activities as well as research study
  2. Demonstrates awareness of current nursing and health care practices
  3. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by Nursing Officers, Senior Nursing Officers, Assistant/Deputy Director (Nursing) and Chief Nurse

Job Specification/Requirements

  1. Registered Nurse
  2. Diploma in Nursing or Degree Nursing from recognized training institution as approved by the Singapore Nursing Board
  3. Able to perform 3 rotating shifts
