Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior/Staff Engineer in Singapore to lead firmware development for high-performance SSD controllers and storage products.

You will design, implement, test, and debug firmware while mentoring junior engineers and driving reliability and power efficiency across the product lifecycle. The role collaborates with hardware, validation, and system teams to optimize latency, throughput, and energy use, contributing to continuous improvement and AI-enabled tooling

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Over 3 years’ relevant experience in firmware or embedded systems development using the C programming language.

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products to meet performance, endurance, capacity, functionality, quality, and reliability requirements.
• Execute firmware development, integration, bench testing, debugging, and validation activities for SSD controllers and storage products.
• Perform root cause analysis, failure triage, and defect isolation; document findings and support corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain firmware unit, functional, and integration tests to ensure quality and performance objectives are met throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with hardware, validation, system, and product engineering teams to resolve complex development issues and improve product readiness.
• Analyze firmware behavior and support enhancements that improve performance, reduce latency, lower power consumption, and simplify SoC complexity.

The Senior / Staff Engineer, Firmware Development (SSD) supports the development, validation, optimization, and debugging of high-performance SSD controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory solutions. This role executes firmware design and testing activities, performs failure analysis and issue isolation, and contributes to firmware quality, reliability, performance, and power-efficiency objectives. Working with cross-functional engineering teams, the Senior Engineer provides technical contributions across the product development lifecycle while mentoring less experienced engineers and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products to meet performance, endurance, capacity, functionality, quality, and reliability requirements.
• Execute firmware development, integration, bench testing, debugging, and validation activities for SSD controllers and storage products.
• Perform root cause analysis, failure triage, and defect isolation; document findings and support corrective actions.

Other Responsibilities

• Provide detailed and accurate technical updates, project status reports, and development summaries to management and cross- functional stakeholders.
• Maintain collaborative relationships across engineering teams and contribute to a positive, high-performance team environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving support.
• Continuously develop technical expertise in firmware architecture, storage technologies, and software engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Over 3 years’ relevant experience in firmware or embedded systems development using the C programming language.

Technical Skills

• Embedded firmware development using C and other high-level programming languages (e.g., Python).
• Firmware debugging, issue isolation, code analysis, root cause investigation, and validation activities.
• Low-level software development, including assembly language programming.
• Firmware analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.

• Clear technical communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Python programming and automation experience.

• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.
