Job summary

MICRON SEMICONDUCTOR ASIA OPERATIONS PTE LTD is seeking an experienced firmware engineer to develop SSD firmware IP subsystems and implement QA tests that ensure performance and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.

The role requires collaboration across teams, mentoring engineers, and applying AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency while maintaining high standards for quality and compliance in storage technologies.

Qualifications

• Masters/Bachelors in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 4+ years embedded firmware development and debugging experience
• Experience in storage industry, storage systems or related tech is advantageous
• Proficient in C and Rust; Python a plus
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers
• Knowledge in PCIE/NVMe and NAND flash is beneficial
• Strong problem solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products meeting critical specs (Performance, Endurance, Capacity, Functionality, Reliability).
• Create firmware unit and functional tests to verify quality and performance at each product development milestone.
• Provide clear, detailed updates to management and cross-functional teams about firmware activities.
• Collaborate across teams to develop and mentor engineers, improving morale and productivity.
• Integrate AI-enabled tools and insights into daily work to enhance efficiency and reliability.

DEVELOP AND TEST FIRMWARE

• SSD products: Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products that meet or exceed the requirements of the technical spec matrix; including, but not limited to: Performance, Endurance, Capacity, Functionality, and Quality/Reliability.


• Firmware Quality Assurance: Develop a firmware unit and functional tests that ensures the firmware subsystem meets the quality, functional, and performance requirements required at each integration breakthrough in the product development lifecycle.

COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY

• Dedicatedly provide management, multi-functional team members, and the firmware team with consistent, detailed, and accurate summaries of activities within firmware development.

REQUIREMENTS

• Masters/Bachelors in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering


• In-depth knowledge and minimum 4 years' experience in embedded firmware development and debugging


• More than 2 years recent experience in storage industry, storage systems, or a related technology is an advantage


• Expertise in programming languages (eg. C, RUST), programming tools & environments


• Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision


• Experience with team leadership and/or supervising/mentor engineers


• Experience programming in Python will be viewed as an advantage


• Experience working with storage interfaces ideally PCIE/NVMe is considered a plus


• Experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage can be a plus


• Experience in conduct analysis, designs, performs programming, debugs, and modifies software


• Proficiency in resolving code problems for firmware applications


• Excellent communication skills.


• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role‑appropriate AI literacy to use AI‑enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem‑solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomesConducts analysis, designs, performs programming, debugs and modifies software. Troubleshoots code for firmware applications. Utilizes analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. Typically programs in machine language, assembly language and high level languages, (e.g., C, Python)
