Job summary

momcozy is seeking a highly experienced Senior DBA to own database reliability, performance, availability and governance across global regions, supporting e-commerce, IoT, mobile and internal systems.

You will collaborate with SRE, DevOps, data engineering and security teams to build standardized, secure, reliable database infrastructure, across AWS and multiple regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in professional database administration or engineering.
• Strong production experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• Extensive AWS database services experience (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache).
• Proficient Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash).
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or IaC.
• Solid understanding of networking, DNS, TCP/IP, and cloud infra.
• Authorized to work in Singapore; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of production and non-production database environments across global regions.
• Design, deploy, operate, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, etc.
• Manage AWS services including RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB.
• Define database lifecycle, upgrades, patching, capacity planning.
• Monitor health, availability, performance, and capacity; tune SQL and indexes.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis; implement preventive measures.
• Design high-availability and DR architectures; manage backup & recovery.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, backup, and monitoring; use Terraform.
• Establish access control, encryption, auditing; support security hardening.
• Provide guidance to DBA/SRE; lead major migrations and optimizations.

Job description

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior DBA to take ownership of database reliability, performance, availability, and operational excellence across our global business. This role exists to ensure our production databases — supporting e-commerce, IoT, mobile, and internal systems — are highly available, performant, secure, and well-governed across AWS and multiple geographic regions. You will work closely with SRE, DevOps, application development, data engineering, and security teams to build standardized, secure, and highly reliable database infrastructure.

Who You'll Work With

• Reports to: Head of Operations & Security (China HQ)
• Collaborates with: SRE team, DevOps, application development teams, data engineering team, security team, and regional infrastructure teams
• Team context: Senior hands-on role; participates in global database architecture and cloud migration initiatives; cross-time-zone collaboration

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of production and non-production database environments across multiple global regions
• Design, deploy, operate, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and other database technologies as required
• Manage AWS database services including Amazon RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, and related services
• Establish standardized database architecture, configuration, and operational practices; define database lifecycle management, upgrade, patching, and capacity planning strategies
• Monitor database health, availability, performance, and capacity; perform SQL optimization, index optimization, execution plan analysis, and database parameter tuning
• Lead database incident response and root cause analysis; identify potential database risks proactively and implement preventive measures; establish and improve database SLO/SLA standards
• Design and implement database high-availability and disaster-recovery architectures; manage replication, failover, backup, and recovery mechanisms; conduct regular backup validation and disaster recovery drills
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, backup, monitoring, and maintenance using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages; implement infrastructure as code using Terraform
• Establish database access control, authentication, encryption, and auditing standards; implement least-privilege access policies; support vulnerability remediation and security hardening
• Provide technical guidance to DBA and SRE engineers; participate in architecture reviews and technology selection; lead major database migration, upgrade, and optimization projects

Requirements

Must-Have

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
• 7+ years of professional database administration or database engineering experience
• Strong production experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
• Deep understanding of database architecture, replication, high availability, backup/recovery, and performance tuning
• Extensive experience with AWS database services, especially RDS, Aurora, and ElastiCache
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent SQL troubleshooting and performance optimization capabilities
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, or similar technologies
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or infrastructure as code
• Solid understanding of networking, DNS, TCP/IP, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience supporting high-traffic, business-critical production systems
• Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities
• Legally authorized to work in Singapore; this role does not provide visa sponsorship

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, or other distributed systems
• Experience with AWS multi-region architecture
• Experience with database migration and modernization
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or other observability platforms

• AWS certification or equivalent professional certification

Language

• Professional working proficiency in English (CEFR B2 or above)
• Mandarin Chinese is highly advantageous for collaboration with China HQ, but not required
