We are seeking a Senior Speech Therapist to join our dedicated team, striving to take the lead in delivering clinical care, mentoring junior staff, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to support individuals with communication and swallowing needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for individuals with complex speech, language, voice, communication, and swallowing difficulties across all age groups.
- Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented therapy programmes using evidence-based practices.
- Deliver therapy through various formats such as individual sessions, group settings, classroom integration, and caregiver training.
- Evaluate and document client progress regularly, revising intervention plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Conduct workplace visits when appropriate to support functional outcomes in real-life contexts.
- Engage clients, families, caregivers, and other stakeholders in the care process by providing consultation, education, and progress updates.
Supervision & Training
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and peer support to junior therapists, therapy assistants, and other support staff in line with regulatory supervision guidelines.
- Support the professional development of the team through case discussions, peer reviews, training sessions, and clinical education.
- Ensure all clinical practices meet national regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
Collaborative Work
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, educators, and social workers to formulate holistic care or educational plans.
- Participate actively in case conferences, planning meetings, and client review sessions.
Administration & Quality Assurance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation for each client.
- Contribute to the development and review of internal guidelines, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, service evaluations, and risk management protocols.
- Maintain proper inventory of therapy resources and request updates when necessary.
Professional Development & Contribution
- Stay updated with the latest clinical research, therapeutic techniques, and technology relevant to speech-language therapy.
- Attend and present at team meetings, professional seminars, or internal training.
- Contribute to public education, outreach events, and awareness campaigns as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Therapy or its equivalent recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council.
- Fully registered or eligible for full registration with AHPC.
- Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in speech therapy
- Proficient in assessment and intervention for both adult and paediatric populations, including complex needs and multi-disciplinary care.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge in managing documentation systems and use of digital tools.
- Flexibility, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in integrated therapy within educational or community-based settings.
- Training in dysphagia and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable mindset in fast-paced or evolving environments
