Senior/ Speech and Language Therapist (APSN Tanglin School)

APSN Tanglin School Relocating to Ang Mo Kio in Q4 2025

Job Purpose:

You shall be responsible for the speech language programme for students &/or trainees with oral communication challenges including evaluation of all students &/or trainees with suspected or identified communication disorders and the development, management and coordination of a speech and language programme, including difficulty in swallowing.

Key Responsibilities:

Consultation

1. Provide professional inputs to support understanding of clients' speech, language and communication difficulties to teachers, parents/caregivers, professional staff, administrators and the public.
2. Participate in collaborative problem-solving to assist teachers, parents/caregivers, professional staff and administrators with practical ideas and recommendations in the setting of goals, selection and design of intervention programs, etc.

Assessment

1. Provide screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services for students/trainees with speech and language disorders.
2. Measure outcomes of treatment and conduct continuous evaluation.
3. Identify effective practices and programs to improve and enhance quality of services.
4. Able to apply formal and informal modes of assessment.
5. Maintain efficient client records and documentation, i.e. assessment reports filing in students' confidential file.

Treatment Strategies

1. Implement intervention program based on assessment, interpretation and planning.

Discharge Planning

1. The Speech and Language Therapists should write a discharge based on the following:
2. Documented evidence showing that the student has achieved all the objectives or the student can no longer benefit from the therapy.
3. The student to be discharged from therapy services if he/she leaves the school.
4. Recommend other services, if applicable to the student and other family members.
5. Refer and write a discharge summary, if necessary, when the student is going to another service or an APSN School.

Training and Support

1. Train and support teachers, caregivers and other communication partners of individuals with speech, language, communication difficulties.
2. Mentor and supervise support personnel.

Job Requirements:

1. Recognized degree in Speech Pathology from accredited college/university.
2. Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Relevant work experience ranging from children to young adults with intellectual disability would be an advantage.
4. Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
5. Valid practising certificate with Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC).
6. Entry level candidates who recently completed studies in Speech Pathology are welcome to apply. We will provide AHPC supervision requirements and support.
