Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Specialist, AI Engineer in Singapore to build AI-powered features and platform capabilities used across the APAC region. You will work with AI and platform engineers to create production-ready solutions, including APIs, integrations, and automation.

You will apply LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, model APIs, and prompt engineering while ensuring code quality, security, and operational readiness in an enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in software engineering, applied AI/ML, or related tech.
• Strong fundamentals in backend services, APIs, and testing.
• Familiarity with Python, cloud development, and CI/CD.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist, AI Engineer to join our APAC AI Hub team. This role is located in Singapore and will contribute to the development and support of AI-powered products and platform capabilities used across BNY.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for a software engineer who is developing strong applied AI expertise and is motivated to build practical, production-oriented solutions. The role will work alongside experienced AI and platform engineers to deliver reliable features, reusable components, and integrations in an enterprise environment.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-powered application features, backend components, APIs, integrations, and automation.
• Work with senior engineers to implement capabilities using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, model APIs, prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and related technologies.
• Write well-designed, efficient, and maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and technical documentation.
• Support prototyping and experimentation to evaluate models, prompts, tools, and solution approaches for defined business and engineering use cases.
• Analyze model outputs and application behavior, document findings, and help improve solution quality, reliability, performance, and user experience.
• Troubleshoot defects, support deployments, monitor existing services, and implement enhancements in accordance with enterprise change-control processes.
• Apply established requirements for security, privacy, software quality, responsible AI, and operational readiness throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, governance partners, and business stakeholders to deliver the work committed by the team.
• Reuse existing platform capabilities and engineering patterns where appropriate and contribute ideas for improving development processes and tools.
• Continue building technical depth through active learning, feedback, mentorship, and participation in the broader engineering community.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience, is required.
• Experience, preferably 3+ years, in software engineering, applied AI/ML, application development, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong software-development fundamentals and practical experience building, testing, and maintaining backend services, APIs, applications, or integrations.
• Familiarity with Python and modern software-development frameworks, source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and cloud-based development environments.
• Foundational knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, session context management, model APIs, machine learning, or related AI technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, learn unfamiliar technologies quickly, and produce clear, maintainable code and documentation.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in APAC and other global locations.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is a plus.
