Job summary

Randstad Singapore seeks a senior Applications Engineer to serve as the regional technical expert for High-Speed Digital, Optical Communications, AI datacenter interconnects, and advanced memory interfaces. You will architect validation strategies for 400G to 1.6T+ transceivers, CPO, and PCIe protocols, working closely with R&D and regional customers.

Job description

• Act as the regional technical expert and primary consultant for High-Speed Digital, Optical Communications, Advanced Memory, and AI Datacenter physical-layer technologies.
• Architect and deploy advanced validation and characterization solutions for optical transceivers (400G to 1.6T+), Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), AI interconnects, high-speed SerDes, PCIe (Gen5-Gen7), and advanced memory (DDR5/6, HBM, CXL).
• Partner directly with customer executives, R&D leaders, and validation teams to optimize measurement methodologies for signal/power integrity, jitter analysis, and compliance testing.
• Collaborate with internal sales teams to drive business development, execute proof-of-concept evaluations, and secure strategic design wins across the datacenter and semiconductor ecosystems.
• Capture market trends and emerging customer requirements to influence internal product roadmaps and R&D development.
• Represent the organization as an industry thought leader at technical conferences, consortium meetings, and customer events.

skills & experience required

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in applications engineering, design validation, product engineering, or solution development involving high-speed digital and/or optical technologies.
• Deep knowledge of high-speed communication principles, including PAM4, NRZ, equalization, jitter analysis, BER measurements, and channel modeling.
• Hands-on experience with optical communication systems (QSFP-DD, OSFP, etc.) and high-performance test instrumentation (e.g., Real-Time/Sampling Oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, and Protocol Analyzers).
• Strong understanding of key industry standards, including IEEE, OIF, PCI-SIG, JEDEC, Ethernet, and CXL.
• Willingness to travel regionally within South Asia Pacific.
