Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Public Service Division (PSD) discovery and build team. You will shape government digital services by prototyping, architecting scalable systems, and delivering user-centric solutions with AI-assisted tooling.

The role covers full-stack development with React on the frontend, NodeJS/Python/Golang on the backend, and modern DevOps practices using Docker, AWS and GitLab CI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Software Engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Pioneer technological solutions through rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development.
• Architect and implement scalable, resilient systems that suit the users’ needs.
• Craft high-quality, maintainable code that addresses real user needs
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews and best practice implementation
• Build and maintain robust automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• Create comprehensive technical specifications, design documents and architectural decision records
• Establish team-level norms that guide AI-assisted delivery and use of AI tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver user-centric solutions

Educational and Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Software Engineering roles.

Technical Expertise

• Full‑stack development mastery:
  • Frontend: React and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Backend: NodeJS, Python, or Golang
  • Databases: SQL and NoSQL systems
• Infrastructure and DevOps proficiency:
  • Container orchestration (Docker)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS)
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI)
• Comfortable working with AI tools (Claude Code, GitHub CoPilot, etc) in software development
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and software design patterns

Advantageous Experience

• Familiarity with Singapore Government IT systems and processes
• Understanding of HR processes and enterprise HRM systems.
• Knowledge of Spec Driven Development (SDD)
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu)
• Track record of successful stakeholder management
