Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the OneCV project, delivering scalable, reliable systems for citizen data screening and integration with data sources. You will help shape solutions with business and product stakeholders and mentor engineers to uphold high quality software practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience engineering, scaling, and delivering production-grade web applications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production software systems.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, reliable and maintainable software architectures.
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code, and lead code and system design reviews.
• Work across our technology stack, including Go, Python, Node.js, TypeScript, React and AWS.
• Lead and support full-stack engineers in delivering solutions from design to production.
• Work with business and product stakeholders to understand problems, clarify requirements and advise on appropriate technical solutions and trade-offs.
• Translate business requirements into clear, feasible technical deliverables that engineering teams can effectively implement.
• Break down complex problems, identify technical risks and dependencies, and guide the team towards pragmatic solutions.
• Coach and mentor engineers on software design, testing, code quality and engineering best practices.
• Work with the team to improve CI/CD, deployment and operational practices.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve system design, engineering practices and developer productivity.
• Explore and apply AI-assisted development tools and practices where they can meaningfully improve software development, testing and delivery.

About One Client View (OneCV)

One Client View (OneCV) is a Whole-of-Government data sharing platform designed to break down information silos across agencies. By providing frontline social and service delivery officers with a unified, real-time client profile drawn from data provided by public agencies, OneCV empowers officers to deliver faster, more coordinated support. This reduces administrative burdens for both officers and citizens, eliminating repetitive paperwork and improving service outcomes through better-informed referrals and assessments.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing solutions that improve OneCV's citizen data screening processes, strengthen integration with data sources, and enhance citizen data sharing capabilities.

Our teams work closely with government agencies to build reliable systems that serve accurate data on demand. Given the scale and lifespan of government products, we value clean, maintainable software and modern engineering practices such as automated testing, CI/CD and DevOps.

As a senior engineer, you will also provide technical leadership, work with business and product stakeholders to shape solutions, and coach engineers to deliver high-quality software effectively.

What you will be working on

• Design scalable, reliable and maintainable software architectures.
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code, and lead code and system design reviews.
• Work across our technology stack, including Go, Python, Node.js, TypeScript, React and AWS.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of experience engineering, scaling, and delivering production-grade web applications
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production software systems.
• Good understanding of Go; familiarity with Python, Node.js, TypeScript and React is a plus.
• Experience providing technical leadership to a team of full-stack engineers.
• Experience mentoring and coaching software engineers and raising engineering standards.
• Strong understanding of software engineering practices, including software design, automated testing, code reviews and CI/CD.
• Ability to work effectively with business and product stakeholders, going beyond requirements gathering to recommend solutions and explain technical trade-offs.
• Ability to translate complex or ambiguous business requirements into clear and feasible technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound engineering judgment.
• Ability to balance quality, simplicity, delivery speed and long-term maintainability when designing solutions.
• Good communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Awareness of AI-assisted software engineering tools and practices, with an interest in applying them responsibly to improve engineering effectiveness.
• A continuous-learning mindset and desire to improve existing systems and ways of working.
• A desire to serve the public through the effective use of technology.
