Job summary

GovTech Singapore is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy innovative digital solutions for public services. You will shape technical direction and drive critical government projects through the full software lifecycle.

You will architect scalable systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor engineers while staying on the forefront of emerging technologies. This role is a 2-year fixed term and based in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/CE or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of API design principles (REST/GraphQL) and databases.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment for complex enterprise applications.
• Architect and build scalable, secure, and resilient software systems using modern technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.

What you will be working on

• GovTech is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy innovative digital solutions that enhance public services and improve the lives of citizens. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and execution of critical government projects.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, for complex enterprise applications.
• Architect and build scalable, secure, and resilient software systems using modern technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to translate user needs and business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and maintainability.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities for testing, deployment, and infrastructure management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and performance of critical systems.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to GovTech projects.
• Contribute to technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend or full-stack engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, message queues, and API design principles (RESTful, GraphQL).
• Demonstrated experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code) is highly desirable.
• A passion for public service and a desire to leverage technology for societal good.

Please note that this will be a 2-year fixed term contract.
