Job summary

Singtel is seeking an experienced software engineer in Singapore to design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions. The role emphasizes scalable microservices, RESTful APIs and automation across CI/CD, QA and operations.

You will work with Java, Python, Apache Camel and Spring Boot, plus Docker, Kubernetes, and multiple databases. The position offers a robust benefits package and opportunities for growth in a leading telco tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/CE or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of software development experience in agile or DevOps.
• 3 years of microservices development with Java, Python, Apache Camel and Spring Boot.
• 2 years' experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 2 years' experience in Linux and open-source development.
• 2 projects using DevOps and software automation with unit and functional testing.
• Experience with MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB databases.
• Experience with EFK stack and Prometheus/Grafana.
• Experience in RESTful API development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade, scalable software solutions meeting functional and security requirements.
• Develop microservices and APIs using technologies such as Java and Spring Boot.
• Automate testing including unit, backend, frontend and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate with QA and internal teams to validate defects and enhancements.
• Work with operations to perform root-cause analysis of issues.
• Follow coding, testing, code reviews, VCS, CI/CD and documentation best practices.
• Gather functional requirements and develop technical specs and project plans.
• Review designs and code with the development team and QA outputs.
• Evaluate industry trends and adopt new technologies when appropriate.

Make an Impact by:

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise grade, highly scalable and high performing software solutions that meet both functional and technical requirements including security requirements.
• Design and develop microservices and APIs using various technologies (e.g. Java).
• Develop and automate the testing for the software solution including the unit testing, backend integration testing, frontend user interface testing and end to end testing.
• Works with the Quality Assurance (QA) teams and other internal teams to ensure assigned defects/enhancements are validated, documented and resolved appropriately.
• Works with the operation teams and other internal teams to facilitate root cause analysis of application issues.
• Familiar with best practices on coding, testing, code reviews, version control, continuous integration, continuous deployment and documentation.
• Gathering functional requirements and developing technical specifications & project/test planning as well as participate in project meetings and discussion.
• Reviewing designs and code output from development team and results produced by QA teams.
• Continuously evaluate industry trends for opportunities to utilize new technologies and methodologies, and implement these into the solution stack as appropriate.

Skills for Success:

• Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in software development using agile or DevOps methodology.
• 3 years of microservices development experience with technologies such as Java, Python, Apache Camel and Spring Boot.
• 2 years of experience with container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• 2 years of relevant experience in Linux and open sourced based development.
• 2 project utilizing DevOps and software automation with unit testing and functional testing.
• Experience with using at least 2 databases such as MariaDB/PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience in using EFK stack and Prometheus/Grafana.
• Experience in development of Restful APIs.
