Job summary

QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey seeks a technical leader in Singapore to drive architecture and deliver scalable software systems. You will mentor engineers, set standards, and advise on AI-enabled technology choices for clients.

Qualifications

Your Impact

You will be the technical lead your team and clients rely on to tackle the hardest engineering challenges, make sound architectural decisions, and ensure the delivery of complex, high-quality solutions that create lasting impact.

You will own the technical direction for your team, designing and delivering complex software systems while setting the engineering standards that define how great software gets built. You will mentor engineers at all levels, help clients make smart technology decisions, and bring the kind of judgment and depth that turns a good team into a great one.

Your work will help solve some of the most complex and high-impact challenges facing clients across industries. Collaborating across QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey and QuantumBlack Labs teams, you’ll help develop innovative software capabilities and scalable enterprise solutions. You’ll help build robust technical foundations for production-ready, AI-enabled systems. Your contributions will directly support the firm's ability to accelerate AI adoption, solve complex business problems at scale, and enable clients to achieve meaningful, lasting impact.

You’ll be based in Singapore as part of our global Software Engineering community. Working in cross-functional teams, you’ll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and industry experts to deliver software solutions. By partnering with clients from technical teams to C-level executives, you’ll help solve complex problems that drive tangible business value and continue to grow your skills as a client-facing technologist.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Undergraduate or master's degree; or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience developing full-stack applications, with expert-level proficiency across frontend and backend frameworks such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, Next.js, Vue.js, Java, Spring, C#, or Node.js; SQL and NoSQL databases; cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP); and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Docker, CircleCI, or similar)
• Able to evaluate third-party dependencies, build custom solutions, and deliver robust, scalable systems across the full stack
• Proven ability to lead the design of complex API ecosystems - including REST and GraphQL - with a focus on consistency, scalability, and long-term maintainability; deep knowledge of API lifecycle management, software design patterns, and distributed systems architecture, with experience managing technical debt and building reusable components adopted across teams
• Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering complex cloud solutions independently, including multi-tier cloud migrations, scalable and fault-tolerant infrastructure, and cost-effective cloud-native architectures on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience establishing agentic engineering standards, reusable workflows, and tooling that measurably improve engineering productivity and delivery quality across teams
• Experience driving AI capabilities that teams build upon, owning evaluation frameworks, self-learning loops, and security controls that improve release quality over time
• A security-first mindset - able to engage as an expert on standards, compliance, and regulation, architect complex authentication solutions, and lead testing strategies that establish the code quality bar for the team
• Experience leading collaborative, cross-functional engineering teams and fostering a strong engineering culture
• Exceptional time management to meet your responsibilities in a complex and largely autonomous work environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and local office language(s), with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels
