Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the development of quantum sensing platforms based on atomic vapor cell systems, focusing on precision magnetometry and inertial sensing. You will design, build, and operate advanced sensing platforms and mentor junior researchers.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a related field, has extensive experimental experience in atomic physics, and demonstrates strong programming abilities in Python or MATLAB.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• Strong experimental background in atomic physics with hands-on vapor cell platforms.
• Experience with tunable CW lasers, frequency stabilization, and optical modulators; at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Track record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the development of quantum sensing platforms based on atomic vapor cell systems, with an emphasis on precision magnetometry and inertial sensing. The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following key tasks of the project:

• Design, build, and operate atomic vapor cell–based quantum sensing platforms targeting high-sensitivity magnetometry and rotation sensing.
• Lead experimental optimisation efforts toward compact and fieldable sensor architectures.
• Supervise and mentor junior researchers and engineers within the team.
• Contribute to technical reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners.
