Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore is seeking engineers to advance mechanical, automation and robotics capabilities for industrial manufacturing and remanufacturing. You will design, integrate and deploy robotic platforms, sensors and control systems, and contribute to deployment-ready solutions.

The role requires a solid foundation in mechanical design, motion control, automation, and hands-on experience with CAD, MATLAB/Simulink, Python and C/C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation Engineering or related disciplines.
• 1-3 years of work experience.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering, part design, mechatronics and automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical, automation and robotics capabilities for manufacturing and remanufacturing industrial applications.
• Design, integrate, and deploy mechanical structures, motion systems, robotic platforms, sensor and control systems.
• Engage in engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, validation, commissioning, and optimisation of automation solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Capability Development and Technology InnovationDevelop mechanical, automation and robotics capabilities for manufacturing and remanufacturing industrial applicationsResearch and develop innovative solutions, machines, tooling, fixtures, end-effectors and automation systems to address industrial challengesGenerate technical intellectual property, know-how, and deployment-ready solutions that strengthen organisational capabilities and leadership
2. Technology Translation and DeploymentDesign, integrate, and deploy mechanical, robotic and automation systems for industrial applicationsDevelop and integrate mechanical structures, motion systems, robotic platforms, sensor and control systems into robust and deployable solutionsConduct engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, validation, commissioning, and optimisation activities throughout the technology development lifecycleEvaluate system performance and drive continuous improvements to enhance reliability and robustness
3. Industry and Research Project Development and ExecutionEngage industry partners to identify challenges, define problem statements, scope projects and develop innovative manufacturing and adaptive automation solutionsLead or support project execution across the technology development lifecycle, from conceptualisation, design, and analysis through prototyping, validation, and deployment of industrial solutionsConduct independent research activities while contributing effectively as a team player within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation Engineering or related disciplines
2. 1-3 years of work experience
