Job summary

A*STAR in Singapore seeks a Scientist to develop and translate advanced manufacturing technologies into industry-ready solutions. You will explore additive, hybrid and other production approaches, develop analytical and simulation methods, and generate evidence to guide engineering and manufacturing decisions.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in experimental, computational or engineering research.
• Ability to translate complex technical problems into structured investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply simulation, modelling and analytical methods to evaluate manufacturing concepts and production strategies.
• Assess the technical feasibility of additive, conventional and hybrid manufacturing routes.
• Analyse manufacturing process chains, workflows, lead times, resource requirements and production constraints.
• Support evaluations of manufacturability, cost, scalability and implementation risk.
• Design and execute studies to validate manufacturing concepts and critical assumptions.
• Work closely with engineers and researchers to assess technology readiness and manufacturing performance.
• Contribute to the development of methodologies, tools and best practices for manufacturing assessment and technology translation.
• Support collaborative projects involving industrial and research partners.
• Contribute to technical reports, proposals and knowledge-generation activities.
