Job description

What do we expect from you?

Under the general guidelines of the Director of Sales, the Sales Manager solicits transient and group business to help Mondrian Singapore Duxton meet or exceed revenue goals in rooms, events, meetings, conferences, and food and beverage.

The Sales department is responsible for selling the hotel and creating a relationship-oriented atmosphere for clients who book business into the hotel. The Sales Manager will have a defined sales territory, market segment(s), and/or account list, and may work in a job-sharing setting. Their primary role is to generate business through prospecting, solicitation, and responding to inquiries. A significant portion of time should be dedicated to new business development based on the assigned territory and market segment.

How your day looks like:

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet or exceed revenue goals through telephone calls, outside sales visits, site inspections, and written communication.
  • Achieve or surpass personal sales call goals, with a minimum of 5 appointments daily, covering existing and prospective accounts.
  • Manage all support services, including responding to emails and correspondence, and maintaining databases.
  • Maintain a high profile within trade and professional associations related to their market area/segment(s).
  • Engage with clients, local hotel associations, and community members outside the hotel within their sales area.
  • Solicit corporate, consortia, and leisure accounts directly and collaboratively through Action Plans.
  • Implement all Sales Action Plans related to their sales area as outlined in the Revenue/Business Plan.
  • Quote and negotiate prices within established parameters, confirm reservations via letter, and draft contracts to close transactions.
  • Attend major travel functions (trade shows, associations) related to their marketing responsibilities, when appropriate and approved by the DOSM.
  • Plan sales trips to key marketing areas, visiting accounts within their specific market segment.
  • Input market intelligence data into the Sales Information Management system.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customer needs.
  • Promote and generate sales leads for sister hotels and in-house sales staff.
  • Maintain files on major active accounts within their marketing area/segment(s).
  • Foster effective employee relations.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Train and develop sales staff reporting to them in designated sales and marketing areas.
  • Prepare and complete Purchase Orders as required.
  • Undertake special projects or tasks as directed by department head or Hotel Management.
  • Prepare correspondence, internal booking reports, and maintain files.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure quality service.
  • Attend local trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
