Job description:

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics System Engineer to lead the development and integration of Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) systems for our innovative cleaning solutions. This role focuses on the mobile base platform operating in challenging airport environments, requiring expertise in hardware integration and software systems for navigation, control, and multi-vendor coordination.

Primary Responsibilities

As the Senior Robotics System Engineer for the AMR platform, you will own the mobile base system from concept to deployment. You will serve as the primary technical interface for navigation software, driver support, hardware electrical designs, and sensor integrations. You will also manage the transition from prototype to mass production and oversee large-scale deployments across airport facilities.

  • Define requirements for differential drive or omni-directional drive systems tailored to specific operational needs.
  • Specify and integrate navigation sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, and IMU systems with the navigation stack.
  • Design comprehensive power distribution and electrical systems for the mobile base and cleaning tools, ensuring safety standards.
  • Oversee the transition from prototype to small-volume production, collaborating with contract manufacturers to establish production lines.
  • Customize navigation software to support cleaning task adaptations and ease of use for ground operators.
  • Develop control software to coordinate cleaning payloads effectively.
  • Conduct extensive testing in simulated and real environments to ensure high uptime and reliability in demanding cleaning applications.
  • Transition systems from prototype to production-ready designs with proper manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing ramp-up and quality validation processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least five years of experience in robotics system development, including three years in AMR or AGV development.
  • Experience deploying multiple robotic systems in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Proficiency with SLAM, path planning, and localization algorithms for autonomous navigation.
  • Hands-on experience with actuators, sensors, power systems, and mechanical integration for robotic platforms.
  • Proficiency in ROS/ROS2, C++, Python, and real-time control systems development.
  • Experience with robot installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site.
  • Knowledge of OpenCV and industrial vision systems in robotic applications.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and production line optimization.
  • Experience with service robots in industrial environments, emphasizing reliability.
  • Successful integration across multiple technology vendors and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13482 Service Robot Safety standards and safety regulations.
  • Understanding of supply chain management, component sourcing, and vendor qualification processes.
