Job description

The A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential (A*STAR IHDP) focuses on research that aims to improve and impact the health and well-being of Singaporeans across the life course.

We invite applicants who would like to gain valuable research experience in working for a large scale, longitudinal research project on childhood development issues in Singapore. The Research Officer will primarily assist on data cleaning, management, and analysis of the collected SG LEADS survey data. Other responsibilities include writing technical reports based on the research data, assisting in survey operations, literature review, and administrative support. The position offers opportunities for learning and working with established scholars in the field of childhood development, family, and population.

Qualifications

  1. Master degree in statistics or social sciences with a focus on quantitative skills
  2. Strong advanced quantitative research skills is a must. A good grasp of data analytic software such as SPSS or STATA is necessary. Familiarity with relational database development is a plus.
  3. Experience in conducting research, including an honours thesis, is preferred.
  4. Ability to collaborate with a large team and to work independently when necessary.
  5. Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills
