Job description

What the role is:

You will work in Environmental Health Institute (EHI), and be a member in the Environmental Epidemiology & Toxicology Division (EETD).

You will grow your career at NEA's Environmental Health Institute (EHI), lead research initiatives and develop standards and guidelines for managing chemical pollutants of public health significance. This role combines scientific expertise with policy development to create meaningful impact in environmental health protection.

What you will be working on:

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Standards Development:

  • Design and conduct research studies on chemical pollutants and environmental exposures
  • Conduct technical evaluation of vector control products and manage the related evaluation regime
  • Develop evidence-based standards and guidelines for evaluating and managing environmental products
  • Lead risk assessment studies for vector control products and building products
  • Review scientific literature and international guidelines to inform local standards
  • Manage research projects and collaborate with internal and external partners

Advisory & Stakeholder Management:

  • Provide science-based recommendations to policy makers and operational units
  • Engage with industry stakeholders to translate scientific findings into practical applications
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain networks with local and international scientific experts

What we are looking for:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science or related field
  • Preferably more than 3 years of relevant research or working experience
  • Strong interest and passion in public health research, policy development, and operations
  • Experience in regulatory science and chemical risk assessment is an advantage
  • Strong foundation in analytical chemistry and toxicology principles
  • Proficient in risk assessment methodologies
  • Proficient in scientific writing and technical documentation
  • Competent in data analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Experience with laboratory analytical techniques
  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to tackle emerging and challenging issues of public health interest
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful and versatile, fast learner and keen interest in acquiring new technical knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work independently and in teams
  • Adaptable and resilient in fast-paced environment
  • Capacity for system thinking and inclination for trans-disciplinary science
