The East Asian Institute (EAI) at the National University of Singapore is seeking a highly qualified senior researcher with a strong background in the politics and international relations of Korea and East Asia to join our multidisciplinary team.

Position: Senior Research Fellow
Field: Politics and International Relations of Korea and East Asia

Qualification
• PhD in Political Science or related field
• 10+ years of work experience in research or any relevant areas

About EAI:

Established in 1997, the EAI promotes both academic and policy-oriented research on East Asian development. Our focus includes contemporary China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), and China’s economic relations with Japan, Korea, ASEAN, and the world. We collaborate with regional and international institutions, organize conferences, and provide insights that inform public policy.

The Korea Centre was established in 2021 under the auspices of the EAI to spearhead research on governance, peace and development in the Korean Peninsula. The first of its kind in Southeast Asia, the Centre seeks to contribute to understanding and interaction between the two Koreas (North and South Korea) and ASEAN countries

Role and Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth research in the politics and international relations of Korea and East Asia.
• Lead research projects and a small team.
• Conduct external outreach to stakeholders and potential partners of the EAI’s Korea Centre.
• Oversee the organisation of conferences and research seminars for the Korea Centre.
• Contribute to EAI’s Background Briefs for a policy-maker audience.
• Engage the public through commentary, op-eds, and public lectures.
• Publish in academic journals and other reputable platforms
