We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) who is highly skilled in and deeply passionate about computational electromagnetism and mathematical physics/engineering. The SRF should have a strong background in computational methods for solving Maxwell’s equations – a strong foundation in quantum electrodynamics (QED) is a significant bonus. The role focuses on developing ab initio theory and software to describe and study groundbreaking mechanisms in electron-photon and electron-matter interactions, related to the efficient generation of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light for applications including EUV spectroscopy and nanolithography.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Computationally solve electrodynamics problems involving electron-photon and electron-matter interactions in the EUV regime.
  2. Develop new, efficient software for modeling electromagnetic phenomena using languages such as C++ and Python.
  3. Formulate new theories related to EUV generation, derived ab initio from Maxwell’s equations and quantum electrodynamics/field theory.
  4. Lead research papers and publish in high-impact journals.
  5. Present findings at top-tier international conferences.
  6. Assist PI in writing grants and supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
  7. Provide logistical support for laboratory operations related to the project.

Job Requirements:

  1. PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, or related fields.
  2. Strong background in electrodynamics simulation techniques.
  3. Proficiency in C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
  4. Solid understanding of theoretical and mathematical physics.
  5. Good written and oral communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in nanofabrication and experimental design.
  7. Ability to work under pressure, independently develop solutions, and pay meticulous attention to details.
  8. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
