A leading company in the engineering sector is seeking a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. The successful candidate will manage cost control, prepare tenders, and navigate contractual obligations to ensure effective project delivery. This role requires a detailed understanding of MEP systems, skilled negotiation, and problem-solving abilities while supporting the project teams.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee cost management, tender preparation, and contract administration to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. MEP Systems Expertise:
Review and understand design concept documents and drawings for MEP systems.
2. Cost Management and Estimation:
Prepare and calculate Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, tender submissions, and cost control budgets.
Develop detailed Scope of Work (SOW) for proposals and contract costings.
3. Tender and Proposal Support:
Assist in preparing tender and proposal presentations.
Handle contract administration and documentation during the tender and project phases.
4. Vendor Coordination:
Liaise with vendors to obtain quotations and proposals during tender and project stages.
Prepare vendor comparison proposals, conduct final negotiations, and assist in selection.
5. Variation Orders (VO):
Assess and identify variation orders for projects and manage related processes.
6. Claims and Payment Certification:
Liaise with consultants and main contractors on progress claims, variation orders, and other contract-related matters.
Collaborate with project teams to manage subcontractor progress, variation order claims, and prepare payment certificates.
7. Contractual Understanding:
Interpret and ensure compliance with contract terms and requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
8. General Support:
Assist with ad-hoc duties and tasks as required to support project objectives.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems, excellent analytical skills, and strong communication abilities to effectively manage costs and contractual obligations.
Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering & Construction Management (Minimum)
Additional Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) or equilvalent
Proficiency in quantity surveying software and CAD applications (Minimum)
Minimum 5 years in MEP
Required Knowledge and Skills
Good in Cost management and data analysis
Time management and organisation
Good interpersonal and communication
Good negotiation and problem-solving
Able to work under fast paced environment
Proficiency in English (Malay & Chinese is an advantage. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectivelycommunicate with Mandarin-speaking clients. )
Mobility as when needed
Willing to travel to project site as and when required
Computer Skills
Intermediate Skill in Microsoft office (E.g. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
