Job summary

A construction management firm in Singapore is seeking a Cost Estimator to manage all cost estimation and contract administrative tasks for construction projects. Job description

Manage and prepare all the cost estimation and contract administrative for the construction projects. This ranges from initial calculations to the final accounts. Your role will be highly critical in ensuring the financial success of our construction projects.

Responsibility:

  1. Reviews tender documents. Participation in the pre-tendering activities with client and project managers and raising relevant pre-bid queries from the given tender.
  2. Preparing VO. Provide detailed and accurate quantity and component take-offs against the drawings as specified in the tender document. Prepare project preliminary cost.
  3. Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms.
  4. Understanding the contract requirements, study and identify discrepancies in tender/contract documents and raise queries for clarifications.
  5. Managing project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs. Monitor and control costs throughout the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  6. Check and verify the progress of work and submission of progress claims to client.
  7. Check and verify subcontracts/ vendors progress claims against the actual work and quality of work done and certify progress claim.
  8. Work closely with the Project Team to provide cost and contractual advice as well as to determine the valuation of work done at site.
  9. Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and financial transactions.

Required skills and qualifications:

  1. Tertiary Degree in Construction Management/Quantity Surveying.
  2. Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations and standards.
  3. Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques.
  4. Familiarity with contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects.
  5. Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from the given drawings.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary negotiation abilities.
  8. Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying.
  9. Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
