A leading company in optical components seeks a (Senior) Project Engineer to manage quotations and new product introductions. The role involves collaboration with internal teams and data analysis to ensure accurate and consistent outputs. Candidates should have a diploma in a related field and over three years of experience, possessing strong communication skills and proficiency in tools like MS Office and SAP.
Brief Summary:
As a (Senior) Project Engineer within our Product Management team, you'll handle the generation of quotations and manage new product introduction of optical components. The role involves working with inhouse engineering, Solution engineers, Sales, manufacturing and third party vendors. Data analysis required to ensure to give accurate and consistent quotes for parts to our sales teams.
Job Description:
1. Project Functions
Projects related to new product introduction and cover both build to print and customised parts
Monitor the status of customer orders/projects, analysing potential risks and issues that may impact delivery schedules, and implement appropriate countermeasures to mitigate them.
Organize new requirements into actionable tasks for team members, ensuring clarity and accountability.
Develop, maintain, and generate performance reports detailing project status, risks, and achievements for internal distribution and review.
Foster collaboration and communication between the Sales team, customers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective follow-up actions and closure of projects.
2. Generation of Request for Quotes (RFQs)
Receive and process RFQ requests from the sales team, entering them into our system and tracking progress using designated trackers.
Create comprehensive RFQ worksheets, including detailed drawings and specifications, and distribute them to relevant engineering personnel for assessment.
Coordinate with engineering to compile responses regarding timings, yields, and exceptions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of RFQs before returning to the sales team.
Conduct thorough analysis and review of high-value quotes with the management team, providing insights and recommendations as necessary.
Respond promptly to inquiries and provide necessary support to the sales team throughout the quotation process.
3. Data Analysis
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools
Perform root cause analysis of data discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
Development and ongoing management of predictive models
Work with business functions (Sales, Design, Operations, Logistics, and Finance) to ensure data accuracy and consistency
4. Customer / Inter company Support
Facilitate site visits for Customers and internal visitors by drafting meeting agendas and coordinating logistics for visits
Collaborate with internal departments (sales, engineering, production, quality, etc.) to prepare customized factory tour routes and presentations
5. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the management team to support the overall goals and objectives of the Product Management department.
Qualifications:
Minimum Diploma in Data science, Finance or related discipline.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Minimum 3 years of experience manufacturing environment. Preferably in inside sales, quotation support, order processing or new product introduction
Detail-oriented, responsive, and customer-centric.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in MS Office required and SAP required
Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI and SQL) is advantageous
Knowledge in optics advantageous.
