As part of the global Product Management team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the regional Public Sector Solutions (PSS) client management team and various underwriting and structuring teams across Swiss Re. The role involves representing PSS's capabilities regionally, offering client-ready, value-adding products tailored to client needs, leveraging technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration.

Key skills include technical structuring, underwriting, project management, and the ability to clearly present complex technical information both orally and in writing. The position requires frequent engagement with clients, brokers, modeling firms, and data providers at all seniority levels.

Key accountabilities include:

  1. Assessing and modeling natural catastrophe and climate risks in Asia using existing tools and designing new solutions.
  2. Representing and utilizing Swiss Re’s full product spectrum across multiple lines of business, acting as a solutions broker.
  3. Leading large-scale transactions and development projects, including structuring, underwriting, and product development.
  4. Collaborating with product experts and client-facing teams to deliver effective sales and technical solutions.
  5. Preparing technical documentation to support sales and client engagement.
  6. Translating client needs into solutions using accessible language and visuals.
  7. Driving transaction efficiency and replicability to enhance overall transaction management economics.

About the Team

The team focuses on helping governments and public sector entities manage risks through innovative risk transfer solutions, including catastrophe bonds and reinsurance for climate-related risks. Natural catastrophes and large-scale climate risks remain central to our business. We seek a Product Manager focused on Asia (including ANZ) to support these efforts in a technical and client-facing role.

About You

Critical capabilities include:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in underwriting, risk assessment, risk modeling, or applied sciences (e.g., EQ, TC, Flood, Climate). Experience with index-based risk transfer solutions is advantageous.
  • Background in STEM disciplines with familiarity in quantitative analysis.
  • Proficiency in analytics software such as Excel, VBA, Python, or R; GIS experience is a plus.
  • Ability to simplify complex subjects for diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, excellent communicator, and team player comfortable working globally and virtually.
  • Attention to detail, perseverance, and strategic thinking.
  • Experience in transaction execution and client negotiations, with the ability to uphold challenging viewpoints.
  • Fluent in English; additional regional languages like Mandarin are beneficial.
