Job summary

SEA Singapore is seeking a backend-focused engineer to own services and APIs from design to production. You will translate stakeholder needs into robust, AI-powered workflows and integrate backend services with frontend applications.

You will work with Go or Python, contributing to scalable, secure architectures while mentoring junior engineers and driving operational readiness for new features.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field.
• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Passionate about coding and solving challenging problems.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OS, networks, databases.
• Hands-on full-stack (backend-focused) development with Go or Python.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design, RDBMS, and caching.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools or evaluating new engineering tools.

Job Description

• Own backend services and APIs from design through production, and contribute to frontend changes when needed to ship complete product features
• Translate stakeholder needs into robust technical solutions and AI-powered product workflows, spanning estimation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring to improve user experience, productivity, and ways of working across the organization
• Develop and integrate backend services and APIs with frontend applications, working closely with product managers, designers, other engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver complete product experiences
• Leverage AI-native engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, agentic programming, and harness engineering, to accelerate delivery while writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with strong ownership of quality through reviews and documentation
• Mentor and coach junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and hands-on support to help improve team capability and engineering standards.
• Plan and support infrastructure, deployment, and operational readiness for new features and services
• Continuously improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and developer efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in backend development
• Passionate about coding, innovation, and solving challenging problems
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networks, and databases
• Hands-on fullstack (Backend Focused) development experience through professional work or internships, using Go, Python, or similar languages
• Familiarity with OOP, RESTful API design, relational database design, and caching systems
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, or a demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt new engineering tools thoughtfully
• Experience in web security and designing or developing large-scale distributed systems is preferred
• Knowledge of React, Angular, Vue and deep web performance is preferred
