Job description

Job Purpose:

The Adult, Family and Accessibility group comprises Adult and Community Services, Employability Services and Allied Professional Hub, all committed to enabling persons with disabilities to access learning and services, participate in life and work, and achieve a high quality of life.

As a member of the Allied Professional Hub team, the postholder will be responsible for providing, developing, and enhancing clinical services in the area of physiotherapy within the organisation. Key responsibilities include overseeing the clinical skills development of therapists within their discipline, ensuring that all clinical services and practices are safe, evidence-based, and compliant with clinical governance standards and regulations, and managing complex cases requiring advanced expertise.

The postholder may be assigned to work across various settings, including early intervention programmes, special education schools, or adult and community services, depending on organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Clinical Work and Supervision

  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop and implement individualized care plans for clients with complex needs
  • Provide clinical supervision to senior physiotherapists and/or physiotherapists, ensuring adherence to professional standards and best practices.
  • Ensure clinical services adhere to relevant professional standards, regulations, and best practices to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective care.
  • Manage and optimise the use of clinical resources, including staff, equipment, and facilities, to maximize the impact and reach of services.
  • Provide clinical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to the team to enhance their skills and professional development.
  • Collect, analyse, and report on relevant data and outcomes to measure the effectiveness of services and drive continuous improvement.

2) Uplift Professional Practice

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical programs and interventions that meet the diverse needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Develop, implement and review clinical competency frameworks, guidelines, policies, and procedures to support the delivery of high-quality services. This includes leading cross campus & campus-based discipline supervision and meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies, and procedures related to clinical service delivery.

3) Service Development & Improvement

  • Collaborate with Heads of Department and Clinical Leads to support and/or lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s clinical strategy and service provision ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient care within the financial resources allocated.
  • Contribute or lead in the development and implementation of new programs and services.
  • Design and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs/services and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of services.
  • Monitor and analyse clinical outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and audits.
  • Contribute in organisational and sector level activities to enhance quality of programmes and services (sector partners may include for example AHPC, MOH, MSF, MOE, NCSS, SgEnable, Institutes of Higher Learning).

Job Requirements:

  • Recognised Degree/Master in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with Allied Health Professional Services
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience working as a Physiotherapist.
  • Candidates applying for Senior Therapist roles should demonstrate strong clinical expertise and the ability to mentor junior staff, while those applying for Principal Therapist roles must have advanced clinical proficiency, and a track record of driving service excellence, innovation, and evidence-based practices.
