Job description

Perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs in AH.

Assist the pharmacist in-charge to provide supervision to pharmacy support staff and to coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement.

Dispense medicines to the patients according to department policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

1) Daily Operations

  • Provide professional and courteous service to all patients/customers
  • Process medication orders/prescriptions for both inpatient and outpatient
  • Picking, packing and labelling in accordance with stipulated policies, guidelines and department standard operating procedures
  • Perform billing functions
  • Ensure work area is ready for daily operations
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and ward areas where drugs are stored
  • Involvement in workplace quality improvement projects/activities as and when required

2) Inventory Management

  • Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) requirement and stipulated storage condition
  • Perform topping up of omnicell ward stock in the respective wards
  • Ensure correct receiving of goods
  • Secondary repackaging/redressing
  • Carry out cycle counts and stock takes periodically according to SOPs

3) Dispensing

  • Dispensing of medications to patients in accordance with stipulated policies, guidelines and department standard operating procedures

Requirements

  • Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) OR Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
  • Completed Basic Skill Test OR Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC)
  • Have initiative and able to work independently to achieve goals of the department
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to function effectively as a member of a team
  • Flexibility to work on weekends/public holidays occasionally
