Candidates should have over 5 years of relevant experience, expertise in pedestrian flow modelling, and a degree in a related field. This role offers a competitive total rewards package along with opportunities for professional development and hybrid working arrangements.
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
As a motivated Senior Pedestrian Planner, you will bring a human-centred perspective to support planning and design teams delivering large scale, city shaping projects. You will have successfully undertaken significant and complex pedestrian flow simulation modelling and analysis in Singapore or other global cities and will bring this experience to our multi-disciplinary projects in Arup’s Singapore office and our regional business in Southeast Asia and wider Asian-Pacific (APAC).
This is a high impact role that comprises project delivery and technical excellence, as well as stakeholder engagement and work winning. The person will be responsible for significant and complex transport analysis, modelling methodologies, designs and solutions for external projects. These activities involve tasks such as undertaking pedestrian flow simulation modelling, demand analysis and operational assessments for transport infrastructure projects, commercial buildings, cultural buildings, urban precincts and major sporting events.
Involved in project management of small to medium-sized projects, including delegating tasks to junior team members, leading planning and design efforts for transportation systems, and developing innovative, sustainable solutions.
Conduct advanced traffic analysis, transportation modelling, and demand forecasting, collaborate closely with urban planners and engineers, prepare strategic reports and recommendations, ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards, and facilitate effective collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams.
Lead and manage the planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure, applying innovative transportation planning and engineering solutions while developing and utilizing expertise in traffic analysis, transportation modelling, and demand forecasting.
This role operates with autonomy and accountability, managing deadlines, budgets, and resources to meet financial targets, while serving in a client‑facing, engagement‑focused capacity at internal and external events.
Responsible for the performance and development of junior team members by providing guidance, training, direction, and constructive feedback.
Recognised tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Planning, Transport, Urban Studies, or a related quantitative discipline.
Over 5 years’ experience in pedestrian planning within a consulting environment, with a solid understanding of pedestrian assessment techniques.
Proficient in pedestrian flow modelling software (MassMotion, Legion, Viswalk) and familiar with other transport disciplines, including traffic modelling, microsimulation (e.g., VISSIM), active mobility, and public transport planning.
Operational experience in transport, sports, or events is desirable.
Confident working with clients and internal stakeholders, with a strategic, innovative, and solution‑oriented mindset.
