Overview

The Senior Optometrist provides essential eye care services within Eye Surgery Centre department, collaborating with Ophthalmologists to ensure optimal patient care, in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures, standards of Singapore Optometry Optician Board (OOB). Senior Optometrist assist in supervising and mentor the Optometrists and Ophthalmic technicians in the eye department.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate objective and/or subjective refractions for wide range of individual, including children, adults, elderly, non-verbal individuals, and those who may have cognitive limitations.
  • To provide clinical supervision support to junior Optometrists and Ophthalmic technicians in their respective areas of work.
  • Handles difficult situations like patients’ complaints and queries within the department promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct clinical competency assessment for Optometrist, technician and administrative staff.
  • Conduct paediatric examination and assist Ophthalmologist in the management of Myopia Control using Atropine.
  • To manage and run sub-specialties clinic
  • Provide primary eye care service.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Perform any other administrative and clinical related duties as required.
  • Assist with planning of staff roster.
  • Stay updated with new instrumentation, techniques, and procedures by attending workshops, seminars, and in-service education classes.
  • Attend meetings on issues related to Eye Surgery Centre department.
  • Participation in developing new and improved clinical services.
  • Any ad hoc duties as assigned by RO.
