To support their management leadership team and manage operations, our client is hiring Senior Operations Manager – Chemical Tanker in Singapore. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned maritime professional to join an established and growth-oriented organization. The role offers strategic and operational oversight of a tanker fleet and plays a key part in driving performance, compliance, and commercial results across the business.

Senior Operations Manager – Chemical Tanker

(Based in Singapore)

ORGANIZATION:

You will report to senior leadership and be part of the core management team overseeing end-to-end chemical tanker fleet operations. You will manage vessel performance, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and lead a team of marine and technical professionals to deliver operational excellence.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the assigned chemical tanker fleet, ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across technical, marine, crewing, vetting, and commercial functions to drive high operational uptime and performance.
  • Oversee cargo readiness, voyage planning, and vetting performance to meet charterer and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Superintendents and operational staff, fostering accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Drive implementation of digital tools, process improvements, and cost control initiatives across fleet operations.
  • Liaise with classification societies, port state authorities, flag states, and clients on all operational and compliance matters.
  • Review and strengthen operational KPIs, incident investigations, and risk assessments, ensuring timely resolution and preventive action.
  • Support budget planning, cost optimization, and ensure P&L responsibilities are met.


Requirements
  • Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Deck) – Master/Captain level having sailed on chemical tankers is mandatory
  • Minimum 5+ years in a senior fleet management or operations/HSEQ role (Manager / Senior Manager level) with direct responsibility for chemical tanker operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of CHEMICAL tanker operations, cargo handling, vetting (SIRE/CDI), OCIMF standards, ISM/ISPS/MLC codes, and international maritime regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to balance operational efficiency with client requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • People oriented and passionate about developing shipboard teams.
  • Business acumen with capability to manage the budgetary responsibilities for multiple vessels.
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Well updated with the latest regulatory requirements and its implementation.
