Job Description: This is a full-time position
The primary purpose of the role is to provide technical project management of engineering solutions, ensuring they are feasible, buildable, and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Task Management:
- Ensure vessel designs meet contractual requirements and specifications.
- Oversee technical review processes for procurement of main equipment and materials.
- Manage dealings with classification societies, flag states, and regulatory bodies.
- Resolve technical issues with OEMs, clients, classification societies, and flag states.
- Serve as a technical expert in classification society rules and flag state regulations.
- Manage weight control, inclining experiments, and lightship surveys.
- Oversee sea trials protocols, including loading conditions.
- Provide leadership and coaching to engineering team members.
- Collaborate with the General Manager, Engineering, and senior management.
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Identify and implement process and product improvements.
- Handle contractual negotiations and dispute resolution.
Interpersonal Management:- Communicate effectively across all staff levels.
- Build trust and rapport through respect and dependability.
- Coordinate with shipyard personnel to ensure product quality.
- Develop relationships with partners, customers, and official bodies.
- Negotiate effectively, accepting compromises when necessary.
Information Management:- Understand vessel specifications and educate stakeholders.
- Know classification and survey rules affecting product quality.
- Manage project documentation and reporting.
- Assess project scope and cross-departmental impacts.
- Assist in decision impact analysis across areas.
Personal Management:- Seek professional development opportunities.
- Take accountability for objectives.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and competitors' actions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:- At least 10 years' experience as a Senior Design Engineer or Naval Architect in shipbuilding.
- Qualifications in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
- Knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Flag Regulations.
- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Results-oriented and performance-driven.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Experience in contract management.
