Job summary

National University Health System in Singapore is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to manage daily laboratory operations, perform phlebotomy, ECG and spirometry, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

The role covers specimen handling, laboratory analysis, point-of-care testing, and maintaining accurate documentation while delivering professional patient care and collaborating with NUP and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Laboratory/Biomedical Science or related field.
• Experience in clinical laboratory settings is advantageous; training provided.
• Experience in phlebotomy and heel prick sampling is advantageous; training provided.
• Effective communication in vernacular languages is an asset.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with good problem solving skills.
• Positive attitude in resolving hostile and disgruntled patients professionally.
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines.
• Good interpersonal relationship skills and enjoy working as a team.
• Computer literate – knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration, specimen reception, preparation and packing of specimens.
• Perform laboratory analysis and operate instruments according to work instruction.
• Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, ECG and spirometry procedures.
• Verify and report accurate results in timely fashion; investigate anomalies.
• Perform daily quality control checks and troubleshoot as required.
• Ensure proper documentation and records for traceability (e.g. QC and maintenance checklist).
• Assist to resolve patient queries and elevate to centre-IC when necessary.
• Adhere to work safety guidelines and infection control protocols.
• Assist centre-IC in tasks as assigned.
