Job summary

GMP Technologies (S) Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design and product development for complex electro-mechanical products from concept through mass production. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Electrical, Firmware, Software, and Marketing, and guide junior engineers.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant design experience, with strong SolidWorks CAD/FEA and GD&T knowledge to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering completed.
• Minimum eight years of mechanical design experience.
• End-to-end product development from concept to mass production.
• Hands-on experience designing complex mechanical mechanisms.
• Knowledge of motors, power transmission, sensors and other electro-mechanical components.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks CAD and/or FEA and GD&T.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing considerations and design principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts, detailed designs and modular hardware architecture.
• Lead products through full development lifecycle from concept to mass production.
• Design complex mechanisms including gears, clutches, cams, linkages and electro-mechanical parts.
• Perform analyses and resolve technical and design risks.
• Develop prototypes, test methods and experiments for design verification.
• Translate customer and product requirements into functional mechanical systems.
• Support manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal and assembly.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and product issues and drive value engineering.
• Manage timelines and deliver designs per cost, schedule, and quality targets.
• Mentor and support junior engineers on projects.

About the role

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will take ownership of mechanical design and product development, working on complex mechanisms and electro-mechanical products from concept through mass production. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Electrical, Firmware, Software and Marketing teams while also providing guidance to junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts, detailed designs and modular hardware architecture
• Take products through the full development lifecycle – conceptualization to mass production
• Design complex mechanisms involving gears, clutches, cams, linkages and electro-mechanical components
• Perform engineering analysis and identify/resolve technical and design risks
• Develop prototypes, test methodologies and experiments for design verification
• Translate customer and product requirements into functional mechanical systems
• Support manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal and assembly
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and product-performance issues and drive product improvement & value engineering
• Manage mechanical development timelines and deliver designs according to cost, schedule and quality targets
• Mentor and support junior engineers on projects

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 8 years of relevant mechanical design experience
• Strong experience in end-to-end product development from concept to mass production
• Hands-on experience designing complex mechanical mechanisms
• Knowledge of motors, power transmission, sensors and other electro-mechanical components
• Strong experience with SolidWorks CAD and/or FEA
• Good knowledge of GD&T
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and manufacturing considerations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple engineering disciplines
