Senior Mechanical Engineer (Fluidics & System)
Our client is a global leader in life-science technology, developing innovative products that make a meaningful impact on science and healthcare.
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Fluidics & Systems) to support product development, new product introduction (NPI), product transfer, and manufacturing operations. This role will focus on driving product quality, reliability, and performance through engineering analysis, system-level troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in optimizing mechanical and fluidics systems, resolving complex engineering challenges, and ensuring successful product transitions from design to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new product introduction, product transfer, and sustaining engineering activities.
- Lead mechanical and fluidics subsystem improvements, including system integration and performance optimization.
- Conduct product characterization, design verification, reliability testing, and root cause investigations.
- Apply FMEA, DOE, SPC, and statistical analysis to improve product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Troubleshoot fluidics and system-level issues involving pumps, valves, tubing, sensors, flow control, and pressure management.
- Support engineering change management, validation activities, and technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and manufacturing process optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure product and process readiness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering, including mechanical design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFMA.
- Hands-on experience in fluidics system design, integration, and characterization, preferably within life-science instruments or analytical equipment.
- Good understanding of fluid dynamics, flow control, pressure management, pumps, valves, tubing, and fluidic assemblies.
- Experience in product characterization, reliability testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support.
- Knowledge of lyophilization (freeze-drying) processes and thermal management would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with FMEA, DOE, SPC, statistical analysis, and engineering change management.
- Proficiency in CAD and data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or JMP.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
