Job summary

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and specification of equipment such as pumps, valves, pipelines, chemical dosing systems, HVAC, and related systems for water/wastewater plants.
  • Prepare and review design documents, drawings, technical calculations, equipment datasheets, and tender specifications.
  • Evaluate mechanical system layouts, equipment sizing, and ensure compliance with local codes (SS, ISO, ASME) and PUB guidelines.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Oversee mechanical installation, testing & commissioning (T&C) at site to ensure conformity with design and project timelines.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and recommendation reports for mechanical equipment procurement.
  • Manage change requests, resolve site issues, and support troubleshooting during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and draftsmen.
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews, design risk assessments, and ensure compliance with WSH and LTA/PUB requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with PEB is an advantage.
  • WSQ or MOM-recognised safety certifications (e.g., BCSS, RM course) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and site supervision, preferably in water works, utilities, or industrial plant environments.
  • Experience in PUB or NEWater projects is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or similar software.
  • Familiar with local statutory and regulatory requirements (BCA,NEA, SCDF, PUB).
  • Strong understanding of pump hydraulics, pipe sizing, material selection, and mechanical control systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and project coordination abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
