Senior Mechanical Design Engineer [Industrial Automation | AWS + VB | Tuas]

Responsibilities:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

1. Understand customer requirements and convert them into proposals and concepts for new machines or equipment.
2. Communicate and coordinate with customers on project proposals and throughout the development stages.
3. Take the lead as design engineer, overseeing the project team—comprising project engineers, technicians, and mechanical/electrical design engineers—to ensure seamless workflow during manufacturing and assembly.
4. Lead and guide project and design review sessions, incorporating customer feedback and requirements.
5. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding project-related matters.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

1. Carry out detailed design work and produce critical drawings on schedule; upon project manager’s approval, send designs to vendors/suppliers for quotation and fabrication.
2. Lead discussions and reviews with the design team and customers to ensure alignment on design specifications and requirements.
3. Provide mentorship and technical support to design engineers and assistant engineers, covering tasks such as detailed design, material and component selection, and drawing reviews.
4. Develop testing protocols for machines, particularly for critical functions, to assist the manufacturing team during trial runs.
5. Ensure all project documentation, including drawings and related materials (both digital and hard copy), are properly updated, organized, and archived.

SMART FACTORY TECHNOLOGIES & AI PLATFORM

1. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and specialists on smart factory projects.
2. Develop and implement data-driven, digital solutions to enhance advanced manufacturing and industrial processes.
3. Apply AI and robotics integration to deliver automation and real-time solutions tailored to customer needs.
4. Perform any additional duties necessary to support the company’s objectives.

Requirements:

1. Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent
2. Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in factory automation, machine design, and equipment building.
