Job summary

Talent Merge Pte. Ltd. seeks a Master Mariner (Class 1, unlimited) to supervise vetting inspections for oil majors and ensure vessels meet local and international standards.

You will engage major stakeholders, conduct pre-vetting checks, and drive safety and quality improvements across the fleet. The role requires at least five years of senior seagoing experience, strong knowledge of ISM/ISPS/MARPOL/SOLAS/OCIMF, including SIRE vetting and TMSA, and willingness to travel to ships.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competency as Master Mariner (Class 1, unlimited) or equivalent maritime qualification.
  • Minimum five years of seagoing experience at senior officer rank; shore-based superintendent exposure preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, and OCIMF requirements including SIRE vetting and TMSA frameworks.
  • Proven capability in audit execution, incident investigation, and root cause analysis, supported by fleet management and reporting systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement under pressure, and willingness to travel to vessels.

Job description

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise vetting inspections by oil majors across the assigned fleet, verifying that vessels satisfy local and international maritime requirements and industry standards.
  2. Engage with oil majors throughout the approval process and secure vessel acceptance.
  3. Undertake pre-vetting inspections and work alongside the technical team to close out vetting issues.
  4. Track operational matters across all vessels and uphold adherence to company policies and procedures.
  5. Advise Masters and Navigational Officers on nautical matters to sustain onboard nautical standards.
  6. Champion safety initiatives spanning near-miss reporting, inspections, incident investigations, and quality improvements, and examine all accidents and incidents to drive corrective actions.
  7. Serve on the Emergency Response Team and remain available to act during emergencies.
  8. Execute internal audits, ISPS audits, Marine Ship Inspections, cargo audits, and Superintendent Navigation audits within the required annual intervals, with all non-conformities closed promptly.
  9. Work with the Designated Person Ashore on policy implementation, deliver senior officer briefings, and assist with training and seminars.
  10. Represent the organisation at industry and safety forums, sustaining relationships with oil majors, principals, and industry associations.
