Job summary

Direct Search Global is seeking a Project Manager to oversee marine engine service, repair and upgrade projects from planning through completion. The role requires coordinating customers, technical teams and service partners to deliver projects safely, within budget and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in marine engine services or ship repair, strong knowledge of diesel engines, and proven ability to manage scope, costs and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in marine engine services or ship repair.
• Strong technical knowledge of marine diesel engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke).
• Practical understanding of engine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair procedures.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and subcontractors.
• Familiarity with engine retrofits or commissioning is advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage contractual scope and variations.
• Good communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-management tools.
• Willing to travel to vessels, workshops and shipyards as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee marine engine projects, including overhauls, repairs, retrofits and upgrades.
• Define project scope, schedules, budgets, resources and deliverables.
• Review technical specifications and contractual requirements.
• Act as main customer contact, providing progress updates.
• Coordinate service engineers, workshops, suppliers and shipyards.
• Ensure availability of spare parts, tools and technical documentation.
• Monitor project costs, milestones and risks; implement corrective actions.
• Assess scope changes and coordinate variations for customer approvals.
• Provide technical coordination on engine issues with specialists as needed.
• Ensure work meets safety, quality and technical standards.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, acceptance and handover activities.
• Prepare project reports and final cost reviews; identify delivery improvements.
