Job description

SUMMARY

You will support trading activities across all regions to ensure the company's financial security. You will collaborate with the Group Treasury Department to identify and implement trade finance facilities needed to finance trade flows efficiently.

You will liaise with traders and banks, establishing good working relationships to obtain optimal, cost-effective, and innovative financing solutions for the company.

THE ROLE

  • Monitor stock positions weekly and perform mark-to-market assessments
  • Ensure timely processing of payments and manage cash positions with banking partners
  • Manage risk coverage on sales through banks and/or insurance when necessary
  • Issue Letters of Credit or Bank Guarantees, including negotiations with banks, and monitor stock positions weekly
  • Arrange transactions under Borrowing bases, bilateral facilities, or Repurchase agreements
  • Negotiate and document financing facility instruments
  • Prepare and dispatch invoices and original documents for payment under documentary letters of credit
  • Find and structure the most appropriate and cost-effective banking solutions for physical trading
  • Control and monitor risks related to daily commodity purchases and sales
  • Handle new trades and flows, coordinating closely with the commercial and operations teams
  • Acquire bank lines and establish new banking relationships as needed
  • Participate in training junior team members
  • Assess physical transactions for risk and financing compatibility
  • Report on credit and performance exposure, and risks related to finance management
  • Manage all aspects of Letters of Credit and collections
  • Review and approve spot and term contracts and tenders for financing risks

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university with at least 8 years of trade finance experience in a trading firm or financial institution
  • Strong understanding of Trade Finance instruments and their pitfalls
  • Attention to detail with the ability to summarize information and see the 'big picture'
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholders, including reporting to senior management
  • Proactive in establishing positive relationships with banks to match deals with the best banking profile
  • Experience managing complex transactions and securing bank support for non-standard financing structures, especially in Metals, Oil, and Energy sectors
  • Problem solver and innovator, proactively challenging and improving financing structures
  • Strong communication channels to monitor flows throughout the transaction lifecycle
