Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture for Data to lead the APJC data strategy and oversee a distributed team of Specialist Solutions Architects across six geos.

You will sponsor strategic customer opportunities and act as the CTO-style advisor to the Head of Data, shaping the roadmap for AI-ready data estates. You will coach across Storage, Database, and Analytics, collaborating with GTM teams, and translate customer insights into scalable technical strategies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience.
• Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders.
• 10+ years of technology solutions architecture with depth across storage, database, or analytics.
• Experience across large-scale data workloads, including database, data warehouse / analytics, and storage architectures.

Join the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) Data & AI team as a Sr Manager, Solutions Architecture for Data.

This role leads the Specialist SA function across the full APJC data portfolio including storage, database, and analytics services and is the senior technical leader for the APJC data business. You will guide, coach, and develop a geographically distributed team of Specialist SAs spanning six geos (ASEAN, Korea, Japan, ANZ, Taiwan and India), and you will be the executive technical sponsor and top escalation point for our customers, partners, and AWS service teams. Data is the context layer that turns generic AI into personalised, differentiated customer experiences; every AI conversation is a data conversation, and this role owns the technical strategy that makes our customers' data foundations cloud-native, resilient, and AI/agentic-ready. You will dive deep on data strategy, find ways to make the team's impact felt at scale, and operate as the technical advisor the CTO to the CEO of the APJC data business.

Key job responsibilities

• Hire, on-board, train, and develop Specialist Solutions Architects across Storage, Database, and Analytics, building a high-performing distributed team across APJC's six geos and time zones
• Own the technical data strategy for APJC, define reference architectures, best practices, and the technical narrative that gets customers' data estates AI/agentic-ready
• Act as executive technical sponsor and top escalation point on the most strategic and complex customer opportunities
• Serve as the technical advisor ("CTO") to the Head of Data, translating customer signal into strategy
• Act as technical liaison between customers, service teams, and support carrying roadmap feedback and competitive gaps back to product leadership
• Drive impact at scale through mechanisms, reusable assets, and enablement that multiply the team beyond one-to-one engagements

A day in the life

One morning you're coaching an SA through a complex analytics modernisation architecture; midday you're the executive sponsor in a CxO briefing making the technical case to migrate a legacy estate ahead of an AI initiative. The afternoon you're unblocking an escalated deal, reviewing a reusable reference architecture your team built, and feeding APJC customer signal back to a service team to shape the roadmap. You move fluidly between leading the team, diving deep on data strategy, and advising the business, measuring success by the technical health and collective growth of the APJC data business.

About the team

This role leads the Specialist SA function on the APJC Data GTM team, working as an integrated unit with GTM Specialists, area SA teams, account teams, and partners to drive data adoption. Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience
• Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
• 10+ years of technology solutions architecture, technical sales, or technical consulting experience, with significant depth across one or more data domains: storage, database, or analytics.
• Experience across large-scale data workloads, including database, data warehouse / analytics, and storage architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages
• Deep technical breadth across storage, database (relational and NoSQL), and analytics/data warehousing, able to dive deep in at least one and lead across all three
• Experience positioning data foundations for AI/ML and agentic workloads (data readiness, modernisation, purpose-built services as the context layer for AI)
• Track record driving impact at scale through mechanisms, reusable assets, and enablement
• Cloud certifications and advanced degree (MBA or MS in CS/Engineering) preferred
