Job summary

SMRT Corporation Ltd. is seeking a senior architectural co-lead to manage and coordinate architecture activities across Singapore’s major rail projects.

You will work with LTA and internal SMRT teams to oversee design integrity, safety compliance, and timely execution of complex rail interfacing works. The role involves reviewing drawings, leading feasibility studies, and providing expert guidance on renovations, rejuvenations, and new line interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead SMRT Architecture and LTA team for administration, coordination and supervision of projects across Main/NSEW Line, Circle Line, Bukit Panjang LRT and Thomson-East Coast Lines.
• Provide architectural and design consultancy and technical advice for internal SMRT projects and works – Renovation, A&A Works, Work Order requests from internal stakeholders.
• Review and advise on RFM/AFM requirements, processes and procedures for structural and architectural works.
• Participate in design discussions for LTA Rails Projects – greenfield, brownfield and renewal projects.
• Provide design reviews on architectural issues and problem solving with LTA, government agencies and SMRT disciplines.
• Review drawings and provide architectural advice to internal/external parties, developers, LTA or government agencies.
• Execute feasibility studies, site surveys/inspections, pre/post condition surveys and material selection/presentation.
• Review architectural design and specifications for tender/quotation for internal & external projects and interfaces.
• Lead/assist/coordinate ad-hoc projects and internal SMRT project support and requests.
• Ensure works comply with SMRT and authorities' Quality Procedures, Safety, Standards, and railway operation procedures.
• Attend meetings/presentations with LTA/Contractors/Developers and Project Services teams to understand full scope.
• Collaborate with staff from POW, ECS, EMF and other disciplines to provide accurate technical advice.
• Respond to urgent troubleshooting requests to ensure safety, reliability and operations are not affected.
• Represent SMRT professionally and provide holistic review on architectural and interior design for interfacing works from LTA, developers and authorities.
• Provide design reviews for future MRT lines such as Circle Line extension, Jurong Regional Line, Cross Island Line and upcoming stations/depot interfaces.

Job description

1. To co-lead and co-manage SMRT Architecture and LTA team for administration, co-ordination and supervision of all project system wide at Main/NSEW Line, Circle Line, Bukit Panjang Light Rail and Thomson-East Coast Lines with architectural and structural interfacing.
2. To provide architectural and design consultancy and technical advice for Internal parties projects and works – Renovation, A&A Works, Work Oder requested by Internal SMRT stakeholders – NSM maintenance, Property Management, STELLAR, STRIDES and etc.
3. To review and advise on RFM/AFM requirement, processes and procedure for structural & architectural related works.
4. Involves in the discussion and design of LTA Rails Project – green field projects, brown field project, renewal projects and etc.
5. To provide design review on architectural issues and problem solving with LTA, Government Agencies and SMRT disciplines for existing stations and depots as well as handle and advise on new and existing maintenance boundaries’ issues and updates.
6. Review drawings (design, construction and shop drawings) and provide architectural advises with internal and external parties, developers, LTA or Government Agencies.
7. Execute/involves in feasibility study, site surveys/inspections and discussion – Precondition Survey, Post Condition Survey, feasibility study survey, material selection/presentation and etc.
8. Review architectural design and specifications for tender/quotation for both internal & external parties projects, interfaces and Rejuvenation projects
9. To lead/assist/coordinate Ad-Hoc projects and internal SMRT project’s support and request.
10. To ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant SMRT and Authorities’ Quality Procedures, Specifications & Standards, Work Safety requirements and Railway Operation procedures and requirement
11. To attend meetings/presentations with LTA/Contractor/Developers and Project services team to understand the full scope of works.
12. To collaborate with staff from various technical disciplines (POW, ECS, EMF and etc.) to provide accurate and consistent technical advice that meets the needs of the work requested (Internal Projects).
13. To respond to urgent request for trouble shooting due to contractors’ works and follow up the necessary actions to ensure the safety, reliability and operations are not affected.
14. To represent SMRT professionally and provide holistic review and advises on architectural and interior design for all related interfacing works from LTA, Private Developers, Authorities such as HDB, NParks, NEA, etc and SMRT internal department.
15. To provide design review of new MRT lines such as Circle Line extension, Jurong Regional Line, Cross Island Line and upcoming stations and depots interfaces, enhancements and upgrading projects/works
