Job description

Our client is a well established shipping brand. Currently, they are seeking a well qualified candidate to join them as "Senior/Manager (Growth)(Trade Development Planning/Due Diligence/Network & Service Proposals)(Shipping).

Responsibilities :

  • Executing comprehensive due diligence, feasibility reviews, and route evaluations for new shipping networks and services

  • Synthesizes market insights, financial analyses, and operational requirements to translate high-level strategies into actionable recommendations.

  • Ensures that every strategic initiative from organic growth to potential acquisitions is thoroughly vetted and primed for seamless execution by cross-functional teams.

  • Organic and Network Growth

  • Conduct detailed due diligence on new network and service proposals, including cost-benefit analyses and scenario-based forecasting.

  • Develop comprehensive financial models to assess route profitability and operational feasibility, identifying key risks and synergy opportunities.

  • Analyze maritime market trends, cargo flows, port infrastructure, and competitor footprints to identify untapped routes and value-added service opportunities.

  • Integrate trade projections with capacity usage and port constraints to propose data-driven route expansions or modifications.

  • Break down large strategic initiatives into actionable tasks, coordinating with Trade, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure smooth execution.

  • Monitor the progress of strategic projects from concept to launch, ensuring milestones and performance benchmarks are achieved.

  • Once a new network is operational, facilitate a structured handover by documenting performance benchmarks and operational procedures.

  • Collaborate with the Trade team to transfer yield and capacity management responsibilities, and with the Network team for day-to-day operations.

  • Inorganic Growth and Environment

  • Lead research and due diligence for potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships, developing evaluation criteria and overseeing risk assessments.

  • Collaborate on integration plans to seamlessly incorporate newly acquired entities or partnerships, ensuring operational synergy.

  • Evaluate environmental or corporate sustainability factors (IMO regulations, decarbonization pressures) to future-proof route strategies, and proactively propose green routes, reinforcing the brand positioning and ESG equity.

  • Proactively explore and pilot new technologies and methodologies to enhance network performance and future-proof operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies or related field

  • 6 to 10 years of relevant working experience in strategic planning, business development, project management or similar role within the shipping or maritime industry.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proven track record of leading successful growth initiatives or strategies in a similar industry

  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting complex financial models.

  • Strong understanding of maritime market trends, cargo flows, and port infrastructure.

  • Expertise in conducting research and due diligence for acquisitions and partnerships and the ability to develop and assess potential business opportunities.
