Job summary

The Singapore Business Federation invites a seasoned Chief Accountant to lead day-to-day accounting, finance and administration. You will ensure governance compliance and accurate month-end reporting for SBF Foundation and Migrant Well Singapore, and manage budgeting, forecasts and cash flow.

You should hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with at least 8 years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Excel; Oracle NetSuite experience is preferred.

  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial reporting tools; NetSuite experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, finance and administration operations as go-to person.
  • Ensure governance and regulatory compliance incl. Charities Act and MAA.
  • Close full set of accounts monthly; prepare month-end reports for SBF Foundation and Migrant Well Singapore.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets; monitor against actuals.
  • Manage cash flow and advise on excess funds management.
  • Reconcile donations for tax deduction and issue receipts.
  • Liaise with external auditors and governing bodies for statutory requirements.
  • Implement audit recommendations and maintain financial procedures.
  • Coordinate board/audit risk committee meetings; prep agenda and papers.
  • Develop/update finance handbook and corporate policies.
  • Handle other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Job description

Job responsibilities:
  • You will serve as the organisation's "go-to" person for all accounting related matters and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the accounting, finance and administration operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Code of Governance and regulations laid down by the Charities Act, governing accounting bodies, Memorandum & Articles of Association (MAA), Terms of Reference and related regulations.
  • Ensure timely closing of full set of accounts and accuracy in month-end financial and management reports for SBF Foundation and Migrant Well Singapore.
  • Prepare quarterly forecast and annual budget and monitor against actual results.
  • Monitor cash flow positions regularly and make recommendations for excess funds management.
  • Reconcile entry and submission of donation records for tax deduction and issuance of tax-deductible receipts to donors.
  • Liaise with external auditor and other governing bodies to ensure statutory requirements are met.
  • Implement audit recommendations and maintain standard financial and administrative procedures.
  • Liaise with Corporate Secretary for matters relating to ACRA filing, Board Members and Board Resolutions.
  • Coordinate board/audit risk committee meetings including preparation of meeting agenda, papers and dissemination.
  • Develop and/or update finance handbook and other corporate policies.
  • Handle any other responsibilities and duties that may be assigned by the CEO from time to time.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the organisation
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Preferably experienced in Oracle NetSuite.
