Job description

What the role is:

The officer’s key role is to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, and user experience, through the use of appropriate tech and AI tools, in particular, Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The officer will represent MOM’s strategic business interests as part of the joint business and tech RPA Core Team that maintains and enhances the Ministry’s RPA ecosystem. They will work with divisions to develop innovative and scalable RPA use cases. Besides RPA, the officer can also expect to be involved in other tech-enablement initiatives, including efforts to drive adoption of ready AI tools, understand and design user experiences relating to tech tools, collaborate with divisions on tech solutions and products, and other approaches to drive public sector innovation and transformation.

What you will be working on:

• Maintain and enhance the Ministry’s RPA ecosystem, including:
• Working with the IT team to implement software updates with minimal impact on business processes
• Engaging citizen developers to leverage automation software features, identify and build value-adding use cases, and track manhour savings
• Collaborating with stakeholders on RPA capability development and exploring AI integration
• Providing technical expertise for troubleshooting or developing new scripts

• Drive and support tech-enablement beyond automation, including:
• Staying updated on emerging trends and use cases in automation and AI to identify opportunities for MOM
• Working with MOM divisions to promote adoption of suitable tech and AI tools
• Developing MOM, inter-agency, and other professional networks to share best practices and benchmark automation maturity
• Contributing to digital transformation initiatives within MOM

What we are looking for:

• Tertiary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Information Technology, or similar
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, interfacing between business users and IT teams is advantageous
• Open to applicants with no prior experience
• Familiarity with business process analysis and RPA process design, preferably with RPA tools like UiPath
• UiPath certification is a plus
• Experience in governance, system development, or using AI solutions from GovTech and Open Government Products is preferred
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Meticulous, team-oriented, customer-focused, able to multitask, take initiative, and work independently
