Job description
Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale globally, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- including underwater cables and physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you will leverage your deep market knowledge and tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions supporting Google's infrastructure growth. You will collaborate with project teams on deal negotiations, manage vendor and partner relationships, and present recommendations to Tech leadership. Successful negotiations can save Google millions of dollars and impact the entire business.

As an Energy Manager, you will lead a team responsible for securing reliable and cost-effective power for Google's data centers, contributing to strategic energy initiatives and large-scale infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities include structuring energy agreements, negotiating deals, managing vendor relationships, fostering a collaborative team environment, developing talent, and upholding Google's culture and values.

- Manage the APAC Regional team of Strategic Energy Negotiators, fostering a collaborative environment based on norms, support, respect, open communication, and connection.
- Negotiate and manage data center energy supply and advise on energy market strategies for new data center locations.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives related to data center energy, evaluate energy supply options, and develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Finance, Legal) to support energy transactions and maintain strong external relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
- Develop talent through clear expectations, feedback, coaching, and result-driven leadership.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Law, Economics, Technology, Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in the international energy market, working with electric utilities, regulators, or policymakers.
- Experience in commercial negotiations such as power purchase agreements, renewable energy financing, and procurement.
- Knowledge of industry players, business models, and operational nuances.
- Experience in team building, results delivery, talent development, and fostering collaboration.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or related field.
- Experience working with multilateral organizations.
- Knowledge of macro energy markets and policy trends.
- Understanding of power generation (conventional and renewable), grid infrastructure, regulations, and pricing.
- Ability to address complex multi-stakeholder challenges.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
