Get to Know the Team

At the AI Automation Team, we develop comprehensive automated ML/AI solutions designed to tackle complex challenges within Grab's marketplace. Our focus areas include experiments, embeddings, recommendations, and large-scale marketplace optimizations.

Get to Know the Role

This is an applied research role aimed at developing foundation model solutions for Grab. You will report into the Senior Machine Learning Engineering Manager and work onsite at Grab One North Singapore office. You will also participate in on-call rotations, troubleshooting and resolving issues.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will design and implement training pipelines for foundation models and multimodal models and scalability.
• You will develop and optimize model architectures tailored to specific business uses and ensure deployment.
• You will create and apply model compression techniques such as quantization, pruning, and distillation to enhance model performance.
• You will establish evaluation frameworks to assess and ensure model quality, aligning them with team goals.
• You will stay up to date with the latest machine learning research, translating these insights into practical solutions for Grab's challenges.
• You will collaborate with different teams to understand their needs and incorporate foundation models into applications.
• You will contribute to code and design reviews to maintain high-quality engineering practices and standards.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• A Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related fields with at least 5 years of experience in machine learning, with focus on deep learning and transformer architectures.
• Proficiency in using PyTorch or TensorFlow for training large-scale models.
• Expertise in natural language processing or computer vision applications.
• Knowledge of distributed training frameworks like Ray and Deepspeed to facilitate scalable ML solutions.
• Experience with ML deployment platforms and MLOps to refine application processes.
• Apply foundational models and transformers to unique challenges beyond basic fine-tuning.
